A few days ago, my mom got a YM message from her friend without realizing that her friend's PC has been infected with virus, worm whatever. So she clicked on the link and BAM! Now our PC got infected too.
I'm not sure how strong this thing is but, apparently my Microsoft Security Essentials service has been stopped. I don't know when. If my mom's memory is right, then it happened before our PC got infected. Yeah, I am quite careless with my PC security. I just never thought this would happened because I don't go to infected/bad website. I don't download suspicious programs. I know better than to click on ads, or links from people I don't know. Even if I got it from someone I know, I know what real link looks like.... *sigh*
I guess that wasn't true anymore. According to my mom, the message was sent in perfect English. My friend confirmed it when she got the same message from me (my PC is infected now, remember?). We know that it is a common practice NOT to trust messages with bad grammar usage especially when it is totally different from your friends' usual styles. I would fall for the same message too if it wasn't for the suspicious link address. So I can't really blame my mom for this.
I can only blame myself for not updating/upgrading my PC security. Now I am working on removing this thing from my PC. I wish myself good luck. *Pat my head*
