I just read an article on Yahoo today about caning 3 Muslim women for having sex out of wedlock. I don't really care because really, it is one of Islam teaching. If the women are Muslim then they should already know not to do that.
But what I do care is about opinions from people who don't know Islam.
In the opinion piece, The Star managing editor P. Gunasegaram, a non-Muslim, criticized the Feb. 9 caning of three Muslim women for illicit sex, saying it undermined individual rights.
Dude, that depends on your belief. In west, they separate religion and lifestyle but in Islam, its teaching is the lifestyle. So as Muslim, they should already know what they do is wrong and the consequences (caning in Islam is admittedly humiliating but not harmful at all). If they don't have any belief in Islam teaching, don't you guys think they would have change their belief to something else?
Just because it is different from what you (non-believers) do, doesn't mean it's wrong.
Rights group say it is a degrading punishment, and that civil law forbids the caning of women.
That is the point of a punishment which is similar to standing on the table, carrying waters while standing outside the class and time off (sit quietly at the corner). There are all humiliating which is intended to teach the receivers not to do it again. :P
So what's wrong with that? Just because they're adult, they're off the hook? Because they're adults, they should have known better. And yeah, Syariah law is different from Civil law so don't put them in the same book.
Lim Kit Siang, a veteran opposition politician, condemned criticism of the article in a blog posting Wednesday.
"Right-thinking Malaysians are gravely concerned at the rise of intolerance and bigotry," he said. "Is Malaysia's plural society ... retreating into the shell of greater intolerance, bigotry and extremism?"
Because it is religious issue you idiot! It is sensitive so if you don't have anything good to say about it then shut your mouth or you would create a big riots all over the country. Would you like big riot to happen? The Muslim women took it like Muslim women should. So you non-believers should just stay out of it. If they (the women) don't like it, they are free to change to their belief.
